Event description The DfE’s Competency Framework for Governance was published in January 2017 and at first sight can seem to be a daunting document with extensive, all-encompassing lists of knowledge and expertise required for effective governing boards.
This session explores the key area of the Framework and attempts to make sense of what many have said should be viewed as an aspirational document. The course will also make practical and manageable suggestions on how to make good use of it, including
• undertaking a skills audit
• governor recruitment including chair
• induction
• identifying training needs
• individual self-review
• board self-evaluation
• drawing up a code of conduct

Participants may wish to locate the document at - The competency framework for governance
