Event description | A governor eco schools training session – linked to DfE Sustainability and climate change strategy for education (April 22) and NGAs Environmental sustainability a whole school approach: A guide for govenring boards Within their strategy the DfE state that by 2025 all education settings will have a climate action plan in place outlining how schools will incorporate environmental sustainability within their curricular and extra-curricular activity, procurement, adaptation, and decarbonisation plans. To facilitate the plan, they expect every school to nominate a sustainability lead who will receive carbon literacy training. Natalie Bayliss from ActForEaling, Ealing’s new climate organisation, will be sharing with governors / leaders what schools can do to make Ealing a more sustainable place to live, work and learn. This session will explore:
Ealing Council declared a climate emergency in April 2019, and in January 2021, following consultations with local organisations and residents, the council published its Climate and Ecological Emergency Strategy. Ealing Council aims to become net carbon neutral as a borough and an organisation by 2030. Schools are highlighted as a vital public sector partner on the journey to achieving this goal. |
